The Tilburg Central Station Centre is in a classically elegant building that fronts onto one of Tilburg's main highways and enjoys the city's foremost business address. It is right at the centre of town and is adjacent to all the major amenities. Several of the Netherlands' foremost health insurance businesses have their bases here, alongside a number of large transport and logistics firms. This was traditionally a wool-producing area, but it has diversified to become home to an assortment of manufacturers producing consumer electronics, automotive products, clothing, plastics and food and drink. Tilburg has a large university and other higher education institutions with a strong emphasis on social sciences and applied sciences, and it has a strong commitment to multiculturalism, being a pilot city of the Intercultural Cities programme, which is overseen by the Council of Europe and the EU.
